TL;DR 🔎
You don't need a Bilt Card to earn Bilt Points through housing rewards, Neighborhood Benefits, Bilt Travel, and more.
Bilt Points are generally most useful for travel, especially transfers to airline and hotel partners, although Bilt offers plenty of other redemption options.
Bilt is especially useful if you rent or own a home, travel often, or already spend with Bilt's partners.
If you think Bilt Rewards is just a way to earn points on rent, you're missing most of the program.
Rent and mortgage payments are still the big draw, but once you start earning on things like Lyft rides, dinner at participating restaurants, and that Tuesday night spin class, you start to realize Bilt rewards spending you're already doing.
And here's the part most beginners miss: you don't need a Bilt Card to start earning Bilt Points.
Link the cards you already use to Bilt Wallet, let Bilt do its thing in the background, and you can earn points on eligible purchases at participating Bilt partners while still earning the rewards from the card you used to pay. It's about as close to "set it and forget it" as points and miles gets.

What is Bilt Rewards?
Bilt is a rewards program built around where you live, how you spend in your neighborhood, and how you travel.
You can earn Bilt Points on housing payments, participating dining and fitness purchases, Lyft rides, travel booked through Bilt, and more.
You don't need a Bilt Card to earn Bilt Points
You can join Bilt for free and earn points without one of its co-branded credit cards. Link a debit or credit card to your Bilt Wallet, and you'll automatically earn eligible Neighborhood Benefits when you use that card at participating merchants.
The bonus points stack on top of the rewards from the card you used to pay. So if your existing card earns 3x at restaurants and Bilt offers a bonus at that restaurant, you can earn both.

Pay rent or mortgage through Bilt
Rent and mortgage payments are still a big part of Bilt.
If you live in a Bilt Alliance property, Bilt can handle your housing payment directly. If you don't, Bilt also offers BillPay options for rent and, for eligible cardholders, mortgage payments.
Have roommates? At select Bilt Alliance properties, roommates can split rent automatically by percentage through Bilt's autopay.
Use Bilt at participating neighborhood businesses
Bilt's Neighborhood Benefits program lets you earn bonus points at participating local businesses when you pay with a linked card.
That includes restaurants, fitness studios, Walgreens, parking garages, Lyft, and other participating partners.
Link Bilt to your Lyft account and you'll earn 2x Bilt Points on eligible Lyft rides. Bilt Cardholders can earn even more: Blue and Obsidian cardholders earn 3x total, while Palladium cardholders earn 4x total.

Bilt Travel lets you book flights, hotels, and other travel while earning Bilt Points. Pay with an eligible linked card and you'll earn an additional 1x on flights and 2x on hotels.
Shop, dine, and work out
Bilt has partnerships across dining and fitness, including brands such as SoulCycle and Barry's. Depending on the partner, you may earn bonus Bilt Points when booking through Bilt or paying with a linked card. Some partnerships also come with extra perks, like free shoe rentals and water at SoulCycle or a complimentary smoothie at Barry's.
You can also earn Bilt Points through Rakuten by linking your Bilt account and choosing Bilt Points instead of cash back.
Don't forget Rent Day
Rent Day happens on the first of every month, and it's one of the easiest Bilt benefits to overlook.
Bilt Cardholders earn double points on eligible everyday purchases that day, excluding housing, with up to 1,000 bonus points per month. Bilt also rotates additional Rent Day promotions, which can include transfer bonuses, experiences, and other limited-time offers.

🤫 On the DL: Rent Day isn't just about double points. Check Bilt on the first of the month for transfer bonuses, special experiences, and other limited-time perks.

Whether you're testing the waters with the no-fee Blue Card or already deciding between Obsidian and Palladium, the right pick comes down to how you actually spend.
What is Bilt Cash?
Bilt Cash is a second rewards currency that works alongside Bilt Points.
Every Bilt member, including non-cardholders, earns $50 in Bilt Cash for every 25,000 Bilt Points earned toward elite status. Cardholders also have additional ways to earn it. Bilt Cash provides dollar-for-dollar value on eligible benefits across the Bilt ecosystem.
You can use it for things like travel, dining, fitness, Lyft, Blacklane, BLADE, and more. Some of the newer perks are particularly interesting:
Equinox: Redeem Bilt Cash for credits toward spa treatments, Personal Training, and Studio Pilates. Credits range from $75 for Blue members to $150 for Gold and Platinum members, twice a year.
Blacklane: Use Bilt Cash toward eligible Blacklane chauffeur rides, with annual credits of up to $50 for Blue and Silver, $100 for Gold, or $150 for Platinum members.
BLADE: Redeem Bilt Cash for up to $350 toward each of two BLADE airport-flight bookings per year, for up to $700 total.
How to earn Bilt status
Bilt has four status levels: Blue, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
You can qualify through either points earned or a separate spending-based Fast Track. The points path counts qualifying points earned during the calendar year, including points from rent and mortgage payments. The Fast Track, on the other hand, excludes rent and mortgage dollars from its spending requirements.
The thresholds are:
Silver: 50,000 qualifying points or $10,000 in eligible spending
Gold: 125,000 qualifying points or $25,000 in eligible spending
Platinum: 200,000 qualifying points or $50,000 in eligible spending
Higher status unlocks additional benefits throughout the Bilt ecosystem, including better Home Away From Home perks and premium travel benefits.
Home Away From Home can add perks at eligible hotels, including daily breakfast for two, room upgrades when available, and a $100 food and beverage credit at select hotels.

Transfer to travel partners
For many travelers, transferring Bilt Points to airline and hotel programs is the most valuable option. All Bilt transfer partners are 1:1 unless otherwise noted.
Airline Partners | Hotel Partners |
|---|---|
Air Canada Aeroplan | Accor Live Limitless (3:2) |
Air France-KLM Flying Blue | Hilton Honors |
Aer Lingus AerClub | I Prefer Hotel Rewards (1:2) |
Atmos Rewards | IHG One Rewards |
Avianca LifeMiles | Marriott Bonvoy |
British Airways Club | Wyndham Rewards |
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles | World of Hyatt |
Emirates Skywards | |
Etihad Guest | |
Iberia Club | |
Japan Airlines Mileage Bank | |
Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios | |
Southwest Rapid Rewards | |
TAP Miles&Go | |
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles | |
United MileagePlus | |
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club | |
Virgin Red |
The best part? You don't need to be a points nerd to use Bilt well. When you search for a flight, Bilt can show the cash price next to available award prices, including which transfer partner to use for supported airlines, so you're not figuring it out on your own.
Book through Bilt Travel
Bilt Travel can be an easy option when you don't want to hunt for award space.
Bilt Points can be redeemed for 1.25 cents each toward eligible travel booked through Bilt Travel. For example, 10,000 Bilt Points would cover $125 in eligible travel.
Put points toward a home
If buying a home is in your future, Bilt lets eligible members redeem points toward a down payment at 1.5 cents per point. That means 10,000 points would be worth $150 toward the purchase.
Use them for everyday expenses
Bilt also lets you redeem points for things such as rent, fitness, Lyft, gift cards, Amazon purchases, and other options.
These can be convenient, but they're generally less valuable than a strong travel transfer or a down-payment redemption. If saving $50 on rent is more useful to you than squeezing a little extra value from an award flight, that's a perfectly reasonable redemption.
Bilt Points don't expire as long as your account remains open and active, so there's no need to rush into a redemption just because you've been sitting on them for a while.
Does Bilt affect your credit score?
Simply joining Bilt Rewards doesn't mean you're opening a credit card, so signing up for the rewards program itself won't result in a hard credit inquiry.
If you later apply for a Bilt Card, a standard credit inquiry is required. Bilt also offers Credit Boost, which reports your on-time rent payments to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. It reports your housing payments as a separate account on your credit reports and can help build your credit history.
Keep in mind that adding a new account to your credit reports can affect your credit score differently depending on your credit profile and the scoring model used.
Is Bilt Rewards worth it?
For most people, there's very little downside to joining Bilt. You can earn points through participating partners without changing your spending habits or paying an annual fee.
Bilt is especially useful for renters, homeowners, frequent travelers, and people who already spend with Bilt's partners. If you're only interested in straightforward cash back, though, you may get less value from the program.
Start by joining Bilt Rewards and connecting your existing cards to Bilt Wallet. Then let the points pile up.
You can always go deeper later by adding a Bilt Card, learning transfer partners, or chasing status. For now, set it up and let Bilt work in the background.
